Interpretation & Application Study of God's Word - Psalms
Follow the below script to study Psalm or OT Poetry (per Grasping God's Word by Duvall and Hayes)
- Read and re-read the Psalm
- Identify parallelisms
- Identify acrostics in the original Hebrew
- Identify figures of speech
A. Grasp the text in its context to its biblical audience using the above identifications
B. Understand the differences between the biblical audience and us
C. Identify the theological concept and biblical principle
D. Fit the theological concept or principle to rest of the bible, identifying modification or qualification
E. Meditate on how to apply the concept or principle to our modern day life

Due to the nature of the poetry and flow, we will try to read the full Psalm, in its entirety and not break it into sections like we did the prose study.
